The DOSI lab offers several different opportunities for research experience. Please see this page for details about expectations of researchers working in the DOSI Lab.
We would love to take everone, but in reality lab openings are dependent upon :
(1) Projects Available - there must be relevant work that meets our goals
(2) The quality of the applicant - so that you will be a good fit for the group
(3) Available funding - which depends upon the position for which you apply

Undergraduate Student Openings
UCI students can apply for 199 course credits through the Undergraduate Research Program. Requirements vary from department to department, so be sure to check.
Undergrad research is not like a typical class. Please take a look at our Researcher Expectations and Grading Policies.
Students with backgrounds in the following areas are most needed:
Physics/Chemistry (Physical Sciences)
Engineering
Math/Computer Science
Life Sciences
Students from other disciplines are also welcome.
Students from other institutions are also encouraged to apply. Generally this takes the form of summer research projects, but other arrangements are possible.
High School Student Openings
High school students can also particpate in reserach. Generally it is best if you have taken at least 2 years of math and science classes.
Most high school student researchers work on summer research projects, but other arrangements are available. Generally there are volunteer positions available for highly motivated high school students.
